DIY : Baby Shower Invitations

Hello Wanderers!

Truely long time no chat. Life got away with me. Between life, an etsy and trying to find a place in this city it took some time. As of now I am expecting a baby end of May and so excited! I thought I’d share some of my planning that is going into my baby shower, starting with the invitations.

INVITATIONS

I’m going with a wildflower theme mostly because as soon as I saw these invites on Zazzle i knew. So the theme chose me. I’ll link everything I used below.

INSPIRATION

Let’s start with inspiration! I loved this wrapped look in the first photo and I have smaller cards to put with the invitation so it was perfect to use them in this manner. I also wanted some calligraphy, for the names and mailing addresses, and cute stamps that might match my color scheme. Now that I have an idea of what I want I got to purchasing the materials I needed.

MATERIALS

After I finally got everything in, I did quite a bit of research on how to do calligraphy. I shortly learned that it is very hard and it takes a long time to master. BUT I also learned that there is faux calligraphy and how to use my ipad has a lightpad to trace. Now all i needed was a good pen/marker. I went with the Tombow Dual Brush Pen in Rhodamine Red, which came out as a hot pink color. Even though I did buy this before I knew I wasn’t going to be amazing at actual calligraphy, in ended up being perfect and I used the fine tip side.

Another way I wanted to personalize these invitations was a wax seal but didn’t feel like doing it myself so I found adhesive ones on Etsy! I searched around and these beautiful hot pink stork seals caught my eye and fell in love. They have so many gorgeous options for baby showers and more. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Another key item I needed was the material to wrap around the invites and to hold the two smaller cards in place. I looked for different things such as cotton thread, leather, but found a pack of suede cord from Michaels and the colors just fit great with all the colors in the invitations.

PROCESS

After all was complied and the research was done. I started with addressing the invitations. I knew this would take the longest and it did. I also added the return address on the back flap for some flare. I went into my Canva app and created an envelope size project. It took a while to find a font I liked and could easily manipulate to faux calligraphy. Once I had all the slides with everyone’s names and addresses I locked my screen with the brightness all the way up and started to get to work. Luckily I have white invitations or this would have been more difficult so just keep that in mind if you’d like to try.

Next, I put together all of the parts of the invitations. I wrapped the cord around the invites, tying it to the side and then knotted the mini cards on after. To add a bit more flare I had left over baby’s breath from Valentine’s Day flowers, thanks to the husband, and tucked some of that into the cord too.

Lastly, I stuffed the envelope and sealed with a hot pink stork.

FINAL LOOK

I am pretty proud of how they turned out and couldn’t wait to share and send them off to their homes!

Have you ever done some elaborate invites or you would you like to? Let me know in the comments! Or if you have questions 🙂

Keep a look out for baby shower planning post and maybe a pregnancy fashion haul! Till next time wanderers.

Our First Corona Date Out | San Diego

Hi Wanderers!

As outdoor actives started to open my husband and I wanted to take advantage a little bit, but no go crazy. So, we thought going to San Diego botanical gardens would fun. It was so nice to be out of the house and in the sun just walking about and taking pictures of course. Here is what we had to do and what we did for the day.

Tickets: You have to reserve and buy ticket online before you go. For reservation they take 75 people max per 30 minutes windows. We went in at 11am and about 10 others had reserved at that time as well so we felt pretty good about keeping distance as there were not many there.

Taking Precautions: First thing is we wore our masks of course, but some did not, so we stayed away from them. Also, we washed out clothes as soon as we got home just in case. Never be too careful when out with other people around and with some who weren’t wearing masks.

Lunch: We had planned to go to the beach and Pizza Port for the rest of the day, but the beaches have been packed more than ever and Pizza Port was closed. So we ended up right off Solana Beach and had brunch at T’s Cafe. It was close and we were starving at this point. Everything on the menu was $15.00, which kept it simple, and the food was amazing and the portions were definitely worth the money! We probably won’t go to another sit down restaurant any time soon but we will keep that place in mind when things get better. Also, just to let you know, all seating was outside and very spaced out.

Pool: When we saw how packed the beaches were we decided to reserve a spot at our apartments pool. It was such a warm day on Saturday that jumping in the cool pool felt amazing and so needed! Was perfect way to end the day relaxing poolside. My shoulders got a bit burnt but let’s hope that turns into a tan!

Reader Questions: Have any of you been out at all? Where have you been? What do you do to stay safe? Also, where have you been buying your masks?

I bought my mask above and another from Reformation. They have such cute ones for $10! I got the Fruit Salad & Painted Lady. (Linked)

Hope you all enjoyed this post and are staying safe as things are starting to open back up. Be smart 🙂

Moving. Internationally. During a Pandemic.

Hi Wanderers!

It has been a few months! And man have things changed since then. Personally and worldly. Of course you know what has been happening recently with corona and quarantines, but personally a lot of things have changed as well. First major thing is, we moved! To California… from London. So thought I’d share my experience with the crazy packing, moving, and landing in Cali babbyyy.

First a little background, my husband and I had been wanting to move back the the US of A since Christmas of last year and thought about moving when our lease was up in June of 2020. But as you all know the world starting changing in February. So we started by booking a flight in April and then flights were getting shut down and cancelled. So we booked even sooner towards the end of March. During all this flight re-booking, we started packing. Also, with all of this going on, more and more people working and staying at home so we missed out on our plans to see the last of London, hanging out and say goodbye to our friends. That is one of the main things I wish we could have done before we left.

Anyway, skipping to March, we have a crate coming to us two days before our flight to pack full of all of our stuff that we wouldn’t need for a few months as it goes on a long ship journey, quite literally, across the world.

We are now at the end of March, packing the crate, and doing last minute packing for our flight in two days. Luckily there are some brave Uber drivers out there and thank goodness for them! We got to the airport with a total of 6 suitcases and bags (seriously I’m surprised it wasn’t more..). Then we checked in 4 of our largest bags and waited. Before the flight we were were notified via email to try and eat before as the meals on-flight might be minimal. This was difficult as almost every restaurant was closed except for the magazine shops that had some of those small snacks. We bought a few chips and things but ready for out smaller meals on flight.

Now we are on the plane. We quickly realize they had not booked seats away from other passengers. They asked us to stay in our assigned seats as the plane took off. People were pretty upset about that but we quickly got in the air and everyone immediately spread out. As I mentioned we were warned about food and we were given a little baggy of half a sandwich and some desert and pre-packaged candy bars. This was given to us as soon as they could serve after we took off and other than that we were given drinks and that was all for the 11 hour flight…. I was pretty upset that the pre-notification wasn’t more detailed.

Eleven hours later… we finally landed. Starving. There was a process of exiting the plane. We were asked to exit in small groups of 10ish so it took a while to actually get off the plane. During the flight they gave us forms to fill out about where we were coming from and where we were staying. Also, how we were feeling leading up to getting on the flight. Similar questions were then asked to us once we got off the plane. If you were not sure or looked sick they would take your temperature. We passed right through and went to customs, which was normal as for waiting time, but looked long as there was the 6 feet distancing.

Once we did all the boring stuff and left the airport the next stop was food and of course it had to be at In & Out. Those burgers revived us. Now we were headed to the in-laws to live till we settled in.

During the quarantine with the in-laws a lot of shows were watched and a lot of cheese was consumed. (yummy) I took up making summer bracelets to pass time. It was very warm on a few days so we got to go to a family house that had a pool and also ordered an inflatable pool for the backyard. I’m sure a lot of you have been making fun purchases as I have. I’ll have to do a post of my quarantine orders. Nail polish is a top one for sure!

Now to the present, my husband found a job in southern california and now we have moved into our new apartment. Keep an eye out for a new home post! We are now officially Californians.

Hope you all are staying safe and trying to keep busy.

*P.S. If you are in the US and want to order a bracelet. They are $15 shipping included. Hit me up on what colors you want. You can dm me on my Instagram or here. Whichever!

Reader Question: Has anyone had some crazy experience during this time?

Wedding Post | My Music Picks

Hola Wanderers!

Music is such a big part of my life and I have always thought about what songs I wanted to play at my wedding. I wanted to pick songs that are classics to me and my life and some new stuff that I was enjoying. I sent this list to the DJ and organized it by sections of the reception. Also, don’t forget about a “Do Not Play” list.

Tip: There are a lot of classic wedding music out there so I would just make sure you put your own twist and let your DJ know what you want. Add some of your favorite artists and songs. You can either tell the DJ some songs you like and he can add them or you can make a full playlist for them.

Ceremony Music

For my ceremony music I just used recorded music over the church speakers. Obviously there are different choices and I wanted a live musician but our schedules didn’t match up and it also added to the budget. Make sure to ask the church or reception area what their options are. If you aren’t having a church reception I am sure you are open to anything. Also, we let the church choice the instrumental piece for the walk in. If I were to pick I would have chose a Coldplay instrumental. Honestly, so much is happening in that moment that you tune everything out and you don’t even notice the music.

Cocktail Hour & Dinner Playlist

For this playlist, I wanted something chill, but a happy calm. It would be while pictures are being taken and people are chatting, eating, and drinking. Also, it is outside which always brings a nice feeling. I picked some classic romantic songs like Kiss Me & There She Goes. I wanted to add a little class so I added Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra. Also, I love me some alternative music so I added my current favorite by The Japanese House.

Home by Edwards Sharpe, Wedding Bell by Beach House, Saw you in  a Dream by The Japanese House, Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap, Houdini by Foster the People, Best of My Love by The Emotions, There She Goes by Sixpence None the Richer, Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer, Make You Feel My Love by Adele, & Classics like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.

Walk-In Song

My favorite band is Young the Giant and the lead singer just got married and this song was about his wife so obviously I thought this song was perfect and it was! It is a great upbeat and happy song to walk in to.

Simplify by Young the Giant

Dancing

So this is where I had the most fun. I wanted to put my favorites and my husband favorites, but as we were having out wedding in Spain we added some good Spanish tunes for my dads side of the family. Also, added some great classic party tunes like ABBA, Queen, & some Daft Punk.

Criminal by Natti Natasha, Top Spanish Hits, Abba, My Body by Young the Giant, Coldplay, Muchas Flores & Casa en el Aire by Rosario, Golden Years by David Bowie, Float On by Modest Mouse, One More Time by Daft Punk, Shakira, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, & Shania Twain.

  • First Dance with Bride & Groom: Baby I’m Yours by Arctic Monkeys
  • Father & Bride Dance: Daughters by John Mayer
  • First Everybody Dance Song: I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston
  • Last Dance: Heroes by David Bowie

Type of Music

I found this article and it really helped when I was choosing songs. It was more for the reception part, but it was helpful none the less.

Do Not Play

Do not be afraid to send a list like this to your DJ. I know some of these songs or artists are colt classics and some may be your sisters favorite singer, but this is your wedding so do it for you!

Cupid Shuffle, Ellie Golding, or Ed Sheeran

Finito! I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful to picking your own wedding music.

Question for you! (I am going to start doing this as I would love to hear from and interact with you guys more.) If you are married, what was your favorite song that played at the wedding? Mine was definitely Muchas Flores by Rosario. I have been listening to her since I was little and my Spanish side enjoyed it as well. Comment below 🙂

P.S.: I have a new Instagram specifically for my blog! I am so excited about it and hope to do more day trips into Central London on my stories, IGTV of my skincare and makeup routines, and show more of my current music listenings and book reads. Check it out and I can follow you back. xx @est.wander

Home Decor | Wishlist & Favs

Hello Wanderers,

So I moved to a new apartment a few months ago and I finally feel like it is coming together. Also, I had a house warming party and got some plant friends from people friends! So here are some inspirations, current home decor, and pictures of my favorite/new plant buddies.

Inspiration

I take a lot of inspiration from Pinterest, but so many bloggers are now adding their home decor into their content so I look at that too. My home style is cozy and minimal. People say it is a clean bohemian feel. I actually like that description so I go with it.

Wishlist

These are the top items on my wishlist. I really want a dark color for my best because I have a beige White Company velvet quilt and i want it to really show and be a focal point in the bedroom. Where now I only have a white duvet cover and it blends in to that. I really need a bedside table. it would be super helpful as I am a reader and the dresser is on my husbands side so everything is on the floor right now. Lastly, I want more throw pillow and blankets. You can never have enough!

Links:

  1. Wooden Stool – Zara
  2. Dark Green Linen Duvet Cover – Zara
  3. Bedside Table – Dunelm
  4. Throw Pillow – Trouva (If you are in the UK and haven’t been to this website you should! It is amazing. Especially for home things!)

Home Decor

I wanted to show some pictures of my home right now. Our apartment is on the top floor of a house, which means a lot of stairs. If you want to see a video. I have it on my ‘home’ Instagram highlights. My key holder is probably my favorite piece in the house so glad I get to use it and see it everyday. It makes me happy!

Here are the places where I bought my home prices. Unfortunately, I coudl only find one link. The others are all too old to link. Sorry!

  1. Orange throw – West Elm
  2. Green striped throw pillow – H&M
  3. Blue rug – Ikea
  4. Hand key holder – Anthropologie

New Plant Buddies!

The End! I hope you enjoy this post. I actually really like putting it together. It made me realize my actual apartment is close to what I pictured so that makes me happy. Till the next post!

Cook with Me | Pan con Tomate

Hi Wanderers,

I wanted to share my favorite thing to eat for breakfast in Spain. I was bored of cereal and toast with jelly so I wanted something good and significant. I have made it a few times already and I can’t get enough. It’s so simple and no heating, blending, or lots of dirty dishes necessary.

For serving size, this is perfect for one person with two pieces of toast. I believe it is 1 tomato per toast so however many people or toast you want to eat use this as your guide.

Ingredients

  • 2 tomatoes from the vine
  • 1 package of jamon serrano or prosciutto
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • few pinches of salt

Step 1: Take the two tomatoes and cut them in half.

Step 2: Grade the inside of the tomato over a bowl. Do not grade the skin.

Step 3: Add in the olive oil and salt to the graded tomato and then mix together.

Step 4: Toast some bread. Either regular loaf or fresh sourdough. Whatever meets your fancy!

Step 5: Take a fresh clove of garlic and rub it on the toasted toast.

Step 4: Spread tomato on toast and add meat on top. I always have some fruit on the side to bring it to a full breakfast!

¡Buen provecho! Let me know if you have tried this or try it from my post! Send me pictures of your creations. I have a lot of fun posting this one so we will see if I do more.

Also, I have a NEW home page! Check it out 🙂 It was so nice to update it and add my photos into in as I enjoy photography as well. Now it is all wrapped up in one place.

Wedding Post | Picking Flowers

Hi Wanderers!

I wanted to have a post just on flowers because you may think past this, but flowers are such a big part of the wedding. I think it helps bring everything together and they help with the mood. Also, they make anywhere amazing! There are a lot of things to decide and confirm on. I broke it down by tips, my inspirations, and by each location/people that need them.

Tips to Start Off

  • Start with a color scheme. It helps.
  • What flowers are good for the season your wedding is being held?
  • What type of flower do you love? Make is the main flower for all arrangements. Especially for your bouquet. (Ex: Tulips, roses, magnolia, peonies)
  • Try to pick one flower that will connect will all aspects of the event. (Ex: could be your main flower or could be small ones such as baby’s breach, which is what I did)

Inspiration

I wanted something simple but with a pop of color. The first picture was my biggest inspiration. I wanted to do white flowers and because my dress was platinum it work created a more bridal look. Also the green went well the blues we had from the dresses and I think it added a summery feel. I wanted a pop of color, but we ended up mostly sticking with white and green. This helped in the decisions of all the things I had to pick flowers for.

Ceremony Flowers

The first thing to think about is what flowers you want for the church or any space you have the ceremony in. The flowers we used for the church were magnolias, baby’s breath, and palm leaves. I chose magnolias because they fit the season and looks beautiful. Also, they are a large flower that stand out in large spaces. They were placed on either side of the alter, at the Mary statue and along the aisle. I loved how it ended up looking and it made the whole church smell amazing!

Reception Flowers

Next is the reception flowers. Most venues have their own options of flower arrangements so you might have to pick through the pre-arranged ones. Luckily, in their pre-arrangements they had a tall vase full of baby’s breath. When I picked this, they added the style and flower to the outside arrangements as well adding the eucalyptus and wheat. Also, underneath the plates I chose a clear glass placemats that had baby’s breath flattened underneath. I loved how it all came together!

Bride Bouquet

This is one of the biggest decisions I had to decide on was my bouquet. it is one of those things that you want to be perfect. I suggest making a decision my choosing three things for your bouquet such as, the type of flowers, what it is wrapped in, and the shape of the bouquet. First, sticking with the white and green and using the Pinterest inspiration I went with tulips, baby’s breath and eucalyptus. As it was August it was difficult to get tulips as they are a spring flower. Thankfully my florist found some tulips for the bouquet. It was perfect! Second, is to choose what your bouquet is wrapped with. My florist gave me two options, which was tulle or a silky fabric. I really don’t like tulle so I went with the fabric and it was very elegant. Third, I wanted a tightly wrapped bouquet. You can do loose, tight, and the waterfall shape. I didn’t want to take the attention away from my dress so I did a smaller tight wrap bouquet.

Bridesmaids Bouquet

For the bridesmaids bouquets, I wanted it pretty similar to mine, but small changes. The first thing I changed was the main flower. As the tulip was already hard to get I decided on white roses instead for them. Second, for the wrapping I did go with the tulle with it because it looked better in a bow or hanging down.

Hair Flowers

Not everyone needs or wants this. I just though it brought something extra to my simplified wedding look. This was my idea of a updated flower crown. I am going to do a post on hair & makeup for the wedding so I’ll make this short. Keeping thing consistent I used baby’s breath for the hair decoration and my bridesmaids did the same.

Mother’s Flowers/Crosages

Normally the mothers of the the bride and groom get crosages, but I think there was a little miscommunications with the florist in what we wanted. Check and see if the mothers want this and choose flowers that go with your theme. In the end, they got a bouquet of flowers so it was still a nice gesture 🙂 The bouquet was different colored roses and of course there was baby’s breath added into the mix. Again, bring everything together.

Groom Boutonniere

For the partner’s boutonniere it is nice to bring in aspects of your bouquet so it all looks good together. For my husband’s I chose 1 tulip as the main flower with baby’s breath and greenery. The green and white stood out and looked great with his navy suit!

Groomsmen Boutonniere

Going off the the groom’s boutonniere I simplified it. I did not pick a main flower as I didn’t really want roses in the first place and if I did I wanted a barley bloomed one, but you can never really control those types of details. Their boutonniere’s had baby’s breath, a bustle of lavender, and greenery.

Flower Girl

My favorite girl. For the flower girl we gave her the same bouquet as the bridesmaids but it was smaller of course. We also added an updated flower crown with baby’s breath, obviously, but it wasn’t a full crown it ended in the back and went into a braid and a larger white flower clip at the end. She looked so cute!

Well, I think that is all. I hope this helps you. I tried to put my thinking into picking the flowers and some advice when choosing each aspect when going to the florist. If you are planning a wedding let me know if you have any questions!

Also, i have decided to do a honeymoon post! I might do it after my wedding posts, but keep an eye out.

Home Decor | Fall Haul

Hi Wanderers!

Does anyone else have another name for ‘haul’? My husband hates the word so I am thinking this is the best platform to ask what else I can call it. The things you do to make your partner happy. Am i right? Anyways, my husband had a Friday off of work so we decided to go find a lovely piece of artwork we wanted to put on a wall in our living room. First thing that came to my mind was Homescence. So off we went!

TK Maxx / Homesense

Does any other American living in the UK hate how it is TK instead of TJ Maxx? Just me?… Back to the program. So we were browsing for art and we got sucked into buying other things, like usual. Anyway we found three things and none of them being wall art for our living room. Here is what we purchased.

  1. Milk frother – have been wanting one for so long. I used to have one at my old job. They really elevate your coffee by look and taste! Now I need a milk jug to frother in because I tried it today and let’s just say that milk go everywhere. Still happy about the purchase though. It was half off!
  2. Cake tin – I have wanted to bake a cake ever since we moved in to our new apartment and now I don;t have an excuse. I was about to buy another one to make for two layers but I’m going to try and see if this one does a good job and if I do a good job using it.
  3. Woodwick candle – my husband found this. I am pretty sure it is the evening bonfire scent, but in a holiday container as it has a plaid motif instead of being clear. It smells so amazing and perfect for the fall. We light it for about 10 – 15 minutes and makes the whole apartment smell.

Ikea

We were planning on just going to Homesense, but Ikea was a ten minute walk so we thought we would walk through as we had time to spare. We thought they would have some art or frames we could get for the bare wall. We left with a two things and an idea for another wall that is bare, not the one we were shopping for.

  1. Collage of gold frames – We have so many hooks and nails in the wall on the staircase and I really liked the frame and I might actually keep the pictures that were in it! They all match really well with others that I have.
  2. Inside shoe mat – We had another rug for this area, but it was too big for the space we had. It is right when you open the door as we have carpet throughout our apartment we take our shoes off before going up the stairs. This rug was less than 2 pounds! It was a great to have something that fit.

Also, I really want this collage of frames from Ikea. It is a pretty good price for 5 frames in one!

I think I had too much coffee before writing this post. Can you tell? Hope you all enjoyed! What home decor stuff have you bought recently?
